Dow Jones closed up 0.1%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes up 30.6 points (0.1%).
  • ASX futures trading higher ahead of market open in Sydney, up 18 points (0.25%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$49,000.

The Dow Jones rose 0.1% to finish the trading day up 31 points to close at 35,366 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London’s FTSE and Germany’s DAX finished the trading day higher.

Asian markets are set to open higher with ASX futures up 18 points (0.3%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.57 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,805 per ounce with copper at US$4.255 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$67.59 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$71.16 per barrel.

Iron ore has led the industrial-metals rally, up 9% trading at US$148.6, following positive expectations for future demand as recent COVID-19 outbreaks are contained.

Leading into the Asian trading day, one bitcoin is worth US$48,280.
