Dow Jones closed down 0.5%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes down 170.64 points (-0.5%).
  • ASX futures trading higher ahead of market open in Sydney, up 79 points (1.1%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$44,000.

The Dow Jones fell 0.47% to finish the trading day down 171 points to close at 36,236 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London’s FTSE fell 0.9% while Germany’s DAX finished the trading day lower, down 1.35%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 79 points (1.1%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 71.63 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,790 per ounce with copper down 1.34% to US$4.355 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$79.67 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$82.04 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$119 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$43,154 going into the Asian trading day.
