Dow Jones closed down 0.5%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes down 179.86 points (-0.5%).
  • ASX futures trading higher ahead of market open in Sydney, up 28 points (0.4%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$40,000.

The Dow Jones fell 0.53% to finish the trading day down 180 points to close at 33,615 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London’s FTSE fell 3.5% while Germany’s DAX finished the trading day lower, down 4.41%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 28 points (0.4%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 73.76 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$101 per ounce with copper down 2.93% to US$134.24 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$163.27 per barrel while Brent oil is lower at US$838.27 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$146.71 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$39,030 going into the Asian trading day.
