Dow Jones closed down 0.5%, ASX futures higher ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes down 166.15 points (-0.5%).
  • ASX futures trading higher ahead of market open in Sydney, up 21 points (0.3%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$42,000.

The Dow Jones fell 0.49% to finish the trading day down 166 points to close at 33,893 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London’s FTSE fell 0.4% while Germany’s DAX finished the trading day lower, down 0.73%.

Asian markets are set to open higher, with ASX futures up 21 points (0.3%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.63 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$113 per ounce with copper down 4.17% to US$141.8 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$165.12 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$870.43 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$148.65 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$41,902 going into the Asian trading day.
