Dow Jones closed down 0.5%, ASX futures down ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes down 176.7 points (-0.5%).
  • ASX futures trading lower with ASX set to fall 38 points (-0.5%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$43,000.

The Dow Jones fell 0.49% to finish the trading day down 177 points to close at 36,114 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London’s FTSE and Germany’s DAX finished the trading day higher.

Asian markets are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 38 points (-0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 72.81 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,822 per ounce with copper down 0.67% to US$4.546 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$81.68 per barrel while Brent oil is lower at US$84.06 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$127 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$42,833 going into the Asian trading day.
