Dow Jones closed up 1.6%, ASX futures down ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes up 534.75 points (1.6%).
  • ASX futures trading lower with ASX set to fall 35 points (-0.48%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$58,000.

The Dow Jones rose 1.6% to finish the trading day up 535 points to close at 34,913 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe had strong sessions as London’s FTSE and Germany’s DAX finished the trading day higher.

Asian markets are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 35 points (-0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 74.16 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,796 per ounce with copper up 0.02% to US$4.611 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$81.42 per barrel while Brent oil is higher at US$84.07 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$118 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$57,748 going into the Asian trading day.
