Dow Jones closed down 0.3%, ASX futures down ahead of market open in Sydney

  • Dow Jones closes down 117.72 points (-0.3%).
  • ASX futures trading lower with ASX set to fall 35 points (-0.48%).
  • Bitcoin is trading at US$56,000.

The Dow Jones fell 0.34% to finish the trading day down 118 points to close at 34,378 points.

Earlier, markets in Europe were weaker as London’s FTSE fell 0.2% while Germany’s DAX finished the trading day lower, down 0.3%.

Asian markets are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 35 points (-0.5%) ahead of the open in Sydney.

The Australian dollar is firm against the major currencies and is buying 73.52 US cents.

Gold is trading at US$1,760 per ounce with copper down 0.01% to US$4.329 per pound.

WTI Crude oil is selling for US$80.64 per barrel while Brent oil is lower at US$83.38 per barrel.

The spot iron ore price is trading at US$129 per metric ton and one bitcoin is worth US$55,763 going into the Asian trading day.
